CLARE COUNTY COUNCIL will mark Your Council Day 2026 on Friday, June 26, by highlighting the everyday role it plays in supporting people and communities across the county under the theme, “Supporting Communities Every Day”.
Clare County Council, employs over 1000 staff and delivers more than 1,000 services that support and enhance daily life for people and communities across the county.
Your Council Day is the national campaign that highlights the integral role county and city councils like Clare County Council play in supporting everyday life, from services people rely on daily but may not always see, to community initiatives and local democracy.
Co‑ordinated by the Local Government Management Agency (LGMA) and supported by all 31 local authorities, the Your Council Day campaign provides a shared opportunity for councils to showcase the work they do, increase public understanding of council services, and recognise the people delivering that work.
Chief Executive of Clare County Council Gordon Daly said, “Your Council Day highlights the essential work Clare County Council staff do every day to support people and communities across the county. These are services that people rely on daily often without realising it, and community initiatives that underpin life across our county. Your Council Day provides an opportunity to build awareness of what local authorities do, and to recognise our excellent staff who support people’s day‑to‑day lives across Clare.”
Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council Cllr Paul Murphy said, “Your Council Day is an important opportunity to acknowledge the wide range of work carried out by our council and the positive impact it has on communities across Clare. It is also a chance to recognise the commitment and professionalism of our staff, who deliver essential services every day and work closely with communities to support local needs. Their work, often behind the scenes, plays a vital role in maintaining and enhancing quality of life in Clare.”
The 2026 theme, “Supporting Communities Every Day”, focuses on the practical, behind‑the‑scenes and lived impact of council services, including community supports, infrastructure, planning, arts and culture, environmental services and democratic engagement. Local authorities across the country are highlighting how these contribute to strong, connected communities.
For Your Council Day 2026, Clare County Council will be highlighting how the local authority provides a wide range of local services, initiatives, projects and activities, helping to demonstrate how the council supports people and communities every day.
