Clare’s branch of the Irish Red Cross have launched an online raffle in their attempts to purchase a second van.

A big demand is currently experienced by the community support services of the Irish Red Cross in Clare who travel to all corners of the county and to hospitals all over Ireland five to six days a week supporting Clare people.

Honorary Treasurer of the Irish Red Cross in Clare, James Lafferty admitted, “It is not possible to look after everyone at this time”.

He confirmed that that the process of purchasing a second community support vehicle is underway. This vehicle will have one wheelchair space and four seats, it “will be new for the people of Co. Clare for medical appointments and this should be in place in late July 2021 costing €59,000.00,” James explained.

In 2016, a €2,000 donation from the Trump organisation helped to source the existing vehicle which cost €86,000.

This time round, the Trump organisation have given a voucher for two nights bed and breakfast for two people at the Court Yard Bedroom in Doonbeg. The voucher is to be raffled off for €10, 500 tickets will be available.
