# From matchmaking to millionaire-making as Lisdoonvarna player wins €1m **A LISDOONVARNA Lotto player has become a €1 million millionaire after buying the winning Lotto Plus ticket at a local shop during the town's famous Matchmaking Festival.** The winning ticket was purchased at Spar Lisdoonvarna on Saturday, September 5, the day of the draw. The Banner County player became the newest Lotto Plus millionaire after scooping €1 million in a special Guaranteed Millionaire event held as part of the first draw under the enhanced Lotto format. While thousands gathered in Lisdoonvarna over the weekend in search of their perfect partnership, one local Lotto player found a match of a different kind. Shop owner Megan White was delighted to hear about the win, particularly with it coming at such an important time of year for the town. “What a weekend to become a Lisdoonvarna Lotto winner! It’s the first week of the famous match-making festival which the entire community gets involved with,” she said. “There’s a great buzz already amongst the town as the festivities get underway, both with customers and surrounding businesses, and this news is sure to add even more. We wish the winner all the very best with their win and hopefully they check their ticket soon!” The special Guaranteed Millionaire draw saw every Lotto Plus ticket that won a prize in either the Lotto Plus One or Lotto Plus Two draws entered into a draw for an additional €1 million. The ticket purchased at Spar Lisdoonvarna was selected to win the €1 million prize on top of its original prize amount. There were also 43 additional prizes of €10,092 awarded to winning Lotto Plus players nationwide. Retail players are being urged to check their tickets either on the National Lottery app or in-store. Those who have won an additional prize will be advised to contact the National Lottery Prize Claims team on 1800 666 222, where their exact prize amount will be confirmed. Online Lotto Plus winners who won an additional prize will be contacted directly by the Prize Claims team. National Lottery spokesperson Sarah Orr said Saturday night marked a “landmark moment” for Lotto as the game's new changes officially came into play. “And with the world-famous Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival underway, one Clare player found the perfect pairing, becoming our newest Lotto Plus millionaire in a special Guaranteed Millionaire draw,” she said. “We're urging anyone who purchased a Lotto Plus ticket on the day of the draw at Spar Lisdoonvarna in Co. Clare to check it carefully, as an incredible €1 million prize is waiting to be claimed. “The celebrations didn't stop there, with 43 Lotto Plus players nationwide also winning additional prizes of €10,092 each. And that's still not all. Two Lotto players in Kilkenny and Limerick each landed €40,215 after matching five numbers and the bonus in the main draw.” She added: “The biggest winners from Saturday night should sign the back of their tickets and keep them safe.
