CAR giant Jaguar is using its new base in Co Clare to develop driverless cars.

Jaguar/Land Rover has established a research facility at a new 50,000 square foot office development, Universal House, in the Shannon Free Zone and is understood to be creating 30 positions.

The base in Shannon will be used by the company (which is owned by Indian motor firm Tata) to assist in the development of Jaguar’s new self-driving cars.

According to a report from the Limerick Post, Ireland’s beneficial corporate tax regime was a major attractor to Jaguar along with its unique position as the soon-to-be only English speaking country left in the EU.
