An online resource devoted to supporting and educating parents, friends and families with metastatic cancer has been officially launched.

New figures have revealed that273 cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in Clare every year, on average. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Metastatic breast cancer is when breast cancer cells have spread to other parts of your body, away from the breast. It is also known as advanced or secondary breast cancer or stage four cancer. While treatable, it cannot be cured. According to the Irish Cancer Society, approximately 700 Irish women present with metastatic breast cancer every year. There are estimated to be around 3,200 women living with the disease in Ireland.

TodayMyWay.ie is a new online resource which aims to offer holistic support to patients who have been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer as well as their loved ones, and to remind them that they are not alone on their journey. It houses information related to diagnosis and treatment as well as advice for living well with the illness and aspires to give these woman a voice and show they are not alone in their journey.
