ABBY WALSH has been nominated for a PwC Camogie All-Star for the first time.
Clare joint captain Abby has been shortlisted among thirty six camogie players across the country on the back of an impressive season in saffron and blue where she served as a solid anchor at centre back.
Her recognition at a national level caps off a year in which she won an Ashbourne Cup with UCC, the college ending a twenty three year wait for success where Abby shone at centre back.
Eugene Foudy’s Clare charges reached an All-Ireland senior camogie quarter-final for the second year running, a disappointing 3-20 3-12 defeat to Tipperary marking the end of Foudy’s first year in charge.
Wins over Dublin, Wexford, Limerick and Offaly mixed with a round four defeat to Kilkenny saw Clare emerge from the group stages.
Across the championship campaign, Scariff/Ogonnelloe’s Abby played every minute wearing the number six jersey and acting as one of the side’s most consistent players.
In April, Clare secured their return to the top tier of the National League when overcoming Dublin 3-11 0-17 in what was the first piece of silverware won by the county’s flagship camogie team in fourteen years.
Part of the Clare junior panel that won the Munster championship in 2022, the past pupil of St Anne’s Community College in Killaloe has also her share of success with Scariff/Ogonnelloe including senior championships in 2021 and 2022 along with championships at U13, U14, U16 and U18.
All-Ireland champions Cork have fourteen players nominated for All Stars, beaten finalists Galway have ten while there’s six and four respectively for semi-finalists Kilkenny and Tipperary. Abby is the sole Clare nominee with Beth Carton from Waterford also in the running.
Winners will be announced at the PwC Camogie All-Stars Awards in Croke Park on Saturday, 21st November 2026. The evening will also see the presentation of the PwC GPA Camogie Player of the Year Awards in the Senior, Intermediate and Premier Junior grades.
