A strong performance from the Ennis secondary school ensured a Clare side would remain holders of the U16.5 post primary championship. St Joseph’s Tulla captained by Feakle’s Oisin Clune were the last side to win the competition.

Managed by Deputy Principal, Pat Devitt, their win marks the first success at provincial level in hurling since 1979. Their panel had been earmarked since their first year at Rice College as a group with potential to claim silverware.

Clooney/Quin duo John Cahill and Jack O’Neill were joint captains of the side who were dominant for the vast majority of the tie.
