An upgrade of the road in front of a cluster of six houses in Ennis is at risk of not being done “for years,” a county councillor has lamented.

At the most recent sitting of the Ennis Municipal District, Cllr Pat Daly (FF) sought an upgrade of the road “at the cluster of the six two-storey houses in Edenvale”.

In his written response, senior executive officer Eamon O’Dea highlighted that the road was not identified in the schedule as being in charge of the Council. “Therefore the only mechanism for carrying out improvements to the road would be through a Local Improvement Scheme (LIS),” he advised. Houses in Edenvale are there since the early 1970s or 1980s, he added.

Hundreds of roads are already on the LIS with a huge backlog in existence, Cllr Daly said in response to O’Dea. “I recall 10 to 12 years ago there was damage done to the walls at the entrance,” Cllr Johnny Flynn (FG) stated.
