A report on the need for additional street lighting at St Josephโ€™s Terrace in Clarecastle is to be brought before elected members of the Ennis Municipal District.

An appeal for additional lighting at the Clarecastle housing estate was issued by Cllr Paul Murphy (FG) at the May meeting of the Ennis Municipal District. โ€œThere are parts of the older development in particular that are poorly lit,โ€ he highlighted.

Murphyโ€™s proposal was seconded by Cllr Clare Colleran Molloy (FF).

In response, senior executive engineer, Eamon Oโ€™Dea detailed that the matter had been referred to the public lighting engineer within the local authority. A report will then be sought from the Councilโ€™s public lighting maintenance contractor.

Oโ€™Dea stated, โ€œthe report will be brought back to the councillors for their considerationโ€. An outline price is to be drawn up while a design has already been completed.

He calculated that it would not be a serious costing but cautioned, โ€œwe donโ€™t have very specific funding we can use for it, I have no purse to do public lighting out ofโ€.
