Clare has recorded less than five new cases of COVID-19 for the fifth day in succession.

On Wednesday evening, NPHET reported that a total of 401 new cases were known across the country. 182 are in Dublin, 40 in Kildare, 31 in Donegal, 23 in Limerick, 22 in Cork and the remaining 103 cases are spread across 17 other counties including less than five in Clare.

39.6 is the county’s 14 day incidence rate per 100k of the population in Clare which is the fourth lowest rate in the Republic of Ireland.

An additional 15 deaths related to the virus have been notified to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC). Of the deaths notified today, 2 in April, 3 in March, 6 in February, 4 in January or earlier. The median age of those who died was 82 years and the age range was 56-90 years. There has been a total of 4,856 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland following denotification of six deaths.

Numbers in intensive care remain low with the figure at 47 as of 8am on Wednesday, they are included in the tally of 182 hospitalised, of which 19 were admitted in the past 24 hours.

There have been 1,219,487 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ireland as of Monday. 355,529 people have received both doses.
