All electoral areas in Clare have a lower 14 day incidence rate than the national equivalent.

On Saturday, 455 new cases of COVID-19 across the country were reported by the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) with an additional 14 deaths recorded. No breakdown on the cases per county for the 455 were provided by NPHET.

Of the deaths, 3 occurred in April, 1 occurred in March, 6 occurred in February, and 4 occurred in January. The median age of those who died was 72.5 years and the age range was 55 – 90 years. There has been a total of 4,783 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland.

Data from 8am on Saturday has detailed that 52 persons remain in critical care because of the virus, 208 are in hospital, 11 of which were admitted in the past 24 hours.

Over 1m doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered across the country. 301,628 people have received their second dose as of Wednesday.

A total of 19 people have been diagnosed with the virus in the Shannon local electoral area (LEA) over the past fortnight. With a 14 day incidence rate per 100k of the population of 62.5 it is the highest in the county but is below the national rate.

There have been 13 persons diagnosed with COVID-19 in the Kilrush LEA in the last 14 days and it has a 14 day incidence rate of 61.9. Ennistymon LEA (60.9), Killaloe LEA (49.7) and Ennis LEA (38.8) also have among the lowest 14 day incidences rate in the country.
