Construction of a footpath between Lissane Cross and Green Lawn in Clarecastle will not be occurring in the near future.

Consideration for the footpath along the “very popular area for walkers” was proposed by Cllr Pat Daly (FF) but senior engineer with the Ennis Municipal District, Eamon O’Dea advised no funds were set aside for the project.

O’Dea stated, “Ennis Municipal District has a number of locations within the urban and suburban areas of Ennis and Clarecastle where provision of footpaths are required. It is unlikely that funding would be available for the extension of footpaths into the more rural areas at this time”.

Cllr Daly was accepting of the response and was further softened by the presence of the amount of walkways going towards “the slop land in Tiermaclane”.

Pedestrian safety must be considered, Cllr Paul Murphy (FG) flagged. “That loop from Green Lawn in Lissane is like a funnel and is not entirely safe for walkers”.
