SkyCourt Shopping Centre is under new ownership.

As part of the change of management, SkyCourt will be renamed Shannon Town Centre which was the original name of the shopping centre.

A series of changes and a revamp of the centre have been promised over the coming weeks “to enhance the shopping experience and expand the variety of shops within the centre”.

Already, vacant units have had ‘to let’ signs erected outside their doors when there was previously none.

Immediate actions have been welcomed by locals with Love Shannon among the first to herald the new era.

Speaking at a recent meeting of the Shannon Municipal District, Cllr Gerry Flynn (IND) described SkyCourt as “a failed entity”. He felt Clare County Council missed an opportunity in the early 2000s to capitalise on the potential of the shopping centre. “The right move would have been for the local authority to go in and take it over, there is a precedent of the local authority doing that”.
