Clare GAA has set up a special committee to liaise with clubs as to what competition should be run for players between 17 and 21.

Croke Park recently instructed clubs in all counties that juvenile competitions in 2021 will be for teams at under 13, under 15 and under 17 levels.

Counties may, in addition, run competitions for teams at under 14 and under 16 but the competitions for teams in the uneven ages are a must.

Currently the next age group catered for with a competition is under 21 but there is a view that the gap from under 17 to under 21 is too big.

Clubs were written to this week for their views as to whether or not there should be competition at under 19 or under 20 instead of under 21. Inter county competition is currently for teams at under 20.

The clubs are asked to have their replies back by Friday of next week, December 18.

Current county board officers Sean O’Halloran and Anne Hayes have been appointed to chair the hurling and football committees respectively. O’Halloran is joined by Pat Gavin (Ogonnelloe), Sean McMahon (St. Josephs Doora/Barefield), Tony O’Brien (Smith O’Briens) and Padraig Boland (Broadford) while Anne Hayes is joined on committee by Noel Crowe (Ennistymon), Joe Garry (Cooraclare) and Colm Browne (Kilrush).
