Two Clonlara roads are to be reviewed before a decision is made on their inclusion in the 2021 roadworks programme.

Motions were tabled by Cllr Michael Begley (IND) at the November meeting of the Shannon Municipal District seeking that the L-70382 in Oakfield from its junction with the R463 for a distance of 500m and the L-70481 in Cappavilla be included in the 2021 road programme. His requests were seconded by Cllr Gerry Flynn (IND).

Early 2021 will mark the start on the review of the condition of all roads to be included in the programme, senior executive engineer Aidan Oโ€™Rourke stated. Both routes will be examined and considered for inclusion, he added.

Speaking at the meeting, Cllr Begley detailed that roughly half a kilometre in each case was โ€œpoorโ€ and โ€œbreaking upโ€. โ€œIt is not a huge ask to get them included,โ€ he felt.
