A Clare TD has urged broadcasters to televise the keenly anticipated meeting of Clare and Wexford in the All-Ireland SHC.

Following Monday morning’s All-Ireland SHC qualifier draw which paired Brian Lohan’s Clare against Wexford managed by his former teammate Davy Fitzgerald, it emerged that only GAAGO would be televising the fixture.

This prompted Deputy Michael McNamara (IND) to take to Twitter calling on RTÉ and Sky Sports to air the knockout clash “given the huge interest” in the game. “GAAGO is not a viable option for broadband blackspots,” the Scariff man stated. He confirmed to The Clare Echo that he has not contacted either of the broadcasters directly.

As the meeting of Tipperary and Limerick in the Munster SFC was shown on RTÉ News Now, McNamara has suggested RTÉ do likewise this coming weekend.

One Clare fixture has been confirmed to be broadcast by RTÉ this weekend. The Liberty Insurance All-Ireland senior camogie quarter-final will be available on RTÉ ONE as Ger O’Connell’s side take on Cork.

In a now deleted tweet, Clare GAA’s official account described as “shite coverage” the meeting of Clare and Laois as broadcast by GAAGO.
