Clare’s minor footballers will not take to the field in Saturday’s Munster championship as the GAA have paused all minor and U20 competitions until further notice.

On Wednesday afternoon, the GAA received clarification from the Department of Sport surrounding the staging of inter-county fixtures and the decision was reached to put all minor and U20 competitions on hold.

Dermot Coughlan’s side were due to take on Tipperary on Saturday in the Munster quarter-final but the game will not proceed as scheduled. Brian Coffey’s Clare minor hurlers and Sean Doyle’s U20 hurlers exited their respective championships in the past week and are unaffected by the announcement.

Officials within Clare GAA received confirmation of the clarification shortly after lunchtime on Wednesday.

Saturday’s scheduled EirGrid GAA U20 football final meeting of Dublin and Galway will not take place as a result.
