Two Clare broadcasters have been shortlisted for prestigious national radio awards.

Sixmilebridge native Marie Crowe is in the running for Sports Broadcaster of the Year at the IMRO Awards. Presenter RTร‰ 2FMโ€™s Game On, Marie is nominated alongside Newstalk trio Joe Molloy, Nathan Murphy, Mรกire Treasa Nรญ Cheallaigh and Nikki Gregg of BBC Radio Ulster.

A regular columnist with The Sunday Independent since 2008, Marie is the daughter of Tim and Bernie. She spent six years as the anchor broadcaster for Setanta Sport and three with UTV Ireland. The former Lifford Ladies player was announced as a presenter of Game On in October of last year alongside Ruby Walsh and Donncha Oโ€™Callaghan.

Ennis based John Cooke is in the mix for News Reporter of the Year. The Roscommon native joined RTร‰ Radio One in August 2015 having previously spent more than a decade working in local radio including serving as Head of News & Current Affairs of Clare FM while also fronting Morning Focus.

Frequently heard on Drivetime with Mary Wilson, John is nominated alongside fellow Radio One colleague Cian McComack, Helen Jones of BBC Radio Ulster, WLR FMโ€™s Damien Tiernan and Kacey Oโ€™Riordan from 98FM. Cooke is no stranger to success on the IMRO stage, he won numerous PPI Radio Awards as they were previously known in the Best News Story and Speech Broadcaster categories. He is also a two time New York Radio Awards Winner, and has received numerous accolades for Court Reporting at the Justice Media Awards, Health Matters at the Irish Medical Media Awards, and has also been honoured for coverage of Road Safety and Driving Laws on Drivetime.

Clare FMโ€™s virtual concert for essential workers has been recognised. It is nominated in the category for digital and social innovation.
