Additional COVID-19 have been diagnosed in Co Clare.

On a day when 79 new cases have been confirmed across the country, Clare is one of thirteen counties where they have been located. The exact amount of extra cases in the county have not been specified but are not believed to be in excess of two. Dublin (43) accounts for over half of the cases followed by Kildare (9), Cork (6) and Tipperary (6) with fifteen cases spread between Clare, Donegal, Laois, Limerick, Louth, Mayo, Roscommon, Wexford and Wicklow.

Latest detail on a county by county basis has showed that 441 persons in Co Clare have tested positive for the virus since March.

30 of the cases are associated with an outbreak or with close contacts of a confirmed case while 21 have been attributed to community transmission.

No new deaths have been reported to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre. 1,776 persons have died as a result of the virus in the country.

Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr Ronan Glynn stated on Friday evening, “I am asking all households across Ireland to play your part, reduce your social contacts, wash your hands, keep a 2m distance from each other and wear a facecovering in shops and on public transport. These actions are vital to protect our families and safeguard those who are most vulnerable to the disease”.
