*Peadar White will cycle for 12 hours to raise funds for Clare Samaritans

ENNIS and Clare Samaritans are appealing for donations to help ensure its volunteers can continue to support people struggling to cope during the COVID-19 crisis.

Volunteers that are able to carry out shifts at the Ennis branch are following strict guidelines on hygiene standards and social distancing. The situation will be continually monitored to ensure that volunteer safety is prioritised.

Ennis Samaritans Branch Director Gerhard Terpelle said: “For almost 40 years, our branch has provided a listening ear to anyone who needs support, which has been possible through the public’s kind donations. Now more than ever, we need the public’s continued support.

“Due to the cancellation of our upcoming fundraising events we are facing a significant loss of funding, so we are calling on County Clare residents to help us ensure that we continue to be here for anyone who needs support.”

Anyone wishing to raise vital funds for the Samaritans during the coronavirus lockdown can check out their social media channels: SamaritansClare (Twitter), samaritans_clare (Instagram) and Samaritans Clare (Facebook) where there are many challenges to get stuck into.

Donations can be made to Samaritans Ennis and Clare here, or by sending a cheque to Ennis Samaritans, Sunville, Kilrush Road, Ennis, County Clare.

Another Samaritans worldwide challenge is a Samarathon where individuals can run, walk or cycle 26 miles over the month of July and donate to the Samaritans Ennis & Clare team here.

Meanwhile, Peadar White from Ennis has completed a 12 hour cycle fundraiser in honour of the Samaritans Ennis and Clare in the Height, Ennis annually for the last number of years.

Due to the pandemic, it is not possible this year so Peader will be doing the 12 hour cycle in his home on May 22nd 2020.

Donations can be made online at www.idonate.ie/PeadarWhite12HourCycle or send a cheque to the address listed above.
