Crime prevention officer, Tríona Brooks confirmed that the Clare Garda Division will continue regular policing on top of COVID-19 patrols and checkpoints.

Separately, she encouraged people struggling during the restrictions to seek help. “This is a tough time for everybody but if you already suffer from anxiety or depression these difficult times can be affecting you to a greater extent than others”.

“Connecting with other people is proven to have a positive impact on how we feel. That phone call, social media contact or even a letter can mean an awful lot to a person on living on their own and finding the days long. If you feel that your friend or family member needs help then help them to get it either from yourmentalhealth.ie or from connectingforlife.ie. Their goal is to reduce the number of lives lost through suicide and to assist people and communities to improve their mental health and wellbeing. There’s lots of information on their website about supports and specialists services in County Clare”.

Brooks also advised older people that may be feeling to contact ALONE on 0818-222024. Samaritans can be contacted on 116 123 and Pieta House on 1800 247247. The Clare Community Response number is 1850-241 850 and they can assist callers with any and all information they might need.
