A review is to be concluded before a decision is made known regarding next year’s Clare senior hurling management team.

Chairman of the Clare County Board, Joe Cooney stated this week, “At the last county board meeting we were asked to review the hurling set-up, we are reviewing that at the moment so that is going on at the moment and hopefully we will have more progress on that next week”.

It is anticipated that Donal Moloney will continue in charge of the senior hurlers next year, the Scariff man has been present at several games in the club championship over the past month. Question marks still remain as to whether Gerry O’Connor will carry on as joint manager.

All-Ireland winning centre back Seánie McMahon had been linked with a selector’s role, as he had done previously when the Moloney/O’Connor management went their separate ways at U21, however The Clare Echo understands the Doora/Barefield clubman will not be involved. Ruan’s Cyril Lyons is being tipped as a possible selector with the setup.

Discussions are expected to take place over the coming weeks between the County Board and the respective hurling managements including Sean Doyle (U20) and Fergal Lynch (minor). Doyle’s side bowed out at the semi-final stage losing by nine points to Cork while Lynch’s charges made the All-Ireland quarter-final series.
