Clare travel to Galway on Saturday for their opening game in the 2018 All-Ireland senior camogie championship.

Patricia O’Grady’s side perform in the curtain raiser for the Leinster senior hurling tie between Galway and Dublin in Pearse Stadium. In their last championship meeting, six points was the difference as Galway recorded a 2-11 0-11 win over Clare.

The visitors will go in as underdogs for the contest, this will be O’Grady’s third year as manager of the senior side and in this time they have only one championship win to their name. Putting more victories together is definitely the aim for this panel of players who will target the weekend as a brilliant opportunity to take down a strong Galway side.

Niamh O’Dea has recently returned to training. The Kilfenora woman damaged her shoulder in their thirteen point Munster semi-final loss to Cork in May. Her presence in the attack is a big lift where it is expected she and Chloe Morey will act as the main targets. Orlaith Duggan will captain the team from midfield with Maire McGrath, Laura McMahon, Claire Hehir and Carol O’Leary likely to fill out defensive positions. Inagh/Kilnamona’s Aoife Keane is ruled out of the game, she is sidelined with a knee injury.

Throw in on Saturday is at 5pm.
