Marty Morrissey and his partner Ksenia Pic: RTE

Beloved Clare legend Marty Morrissey dazzled the judges with his moves in the first episode of the new series of Dancing with the Stars last night.

Marty, who was favourite to win before the competition even started, was last to step out on stage with his professional dance partner Ksenia.

He wowed the crowd and the three judges with his quickstep to Joe Dolan’s ‘Good Looking Woman’ and looked like he loved every second of it.

Marty scored a respectable 12 points from the judges and they were positive about his performance, but Brian Redmond did question whether his invitation to the Marty party had been lost in the post.

Lorraine Barry said Marty had a lot of sparkle and guest judge Darren said his rhythm and timing was good.

With the boys showing off their well honed steps last night, it will be girls turn next week, followed by the first elimination in week three.

Marty will still get to show off his new dancing shoes next week though, as the boys will be taking part in showcase pieces.

Check out last night’s show here  and tune in to RTE One at 6.30pm on Sunday for week two of the competition.
