No new deaths associated with COVID-19 have been reported as Co Clare has not recorded an increase in COVID-19 cases for the twelfth day in succession.

Officials within the Department of Health have confirmed that the most recent case attributed to the county was indeed an old diagnosis which means that there is no active COVID-19 case in Co Clare. 369 personnel have tested positive for the virus in the Banner County.

Across the country, there have been no new deaths leaving the total amount of lives lost at 1,763. An additional 20 cases have been confirmed bringing the national tally to 25,845 with one further case de-notified by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre.

Warnings on the infectious nature of COVID-19 were once again issued by Dr Ronan Glynn. The Acting Chief Medical Officer stated, “While we have reason to be positive, we now need to continue to work together towards our collective goal of resuming healthcare services, reopening our children’s schools, and protecting the most vulnerable”.

He added, “The past weeks have shown that when we maintain physical distance, wash our hands, wear a face cover where appropriate and cover our coughs and sneezes, together we can interrupt the spread of COVID-19”.
