DEFENDERS Jamie Moylan and Joe Casey are the chief injury concerns for Clare’s U20 hurlers for Wednesday’s Munster final.
It is mixed news on the injury front for Terence Fahy’s charges as they contest a third Munster final in four years and look to win the county’s first title at the grade since 2014.
Ruan’s James Cullinan remains out of action for the U20s, the St Flannan’s College student sustained a hamstring injury in the opening round win over Waterford and has yet to return to the fray.
Corner back Joe Casey of Kilmaley is battling a hamstring injury. He has been first choice at corner back for all six of Clare’s championship outings and is in a race against time to overcome injury for Wednesday’s decider against Tipperary in TUS Gaelic Grounds.
Manager Fahy told The Clare Echo that Casey knew immediately that he had done damage during last week’s semi-final win over Cork. “It is a hamstring injury and it didn’t look good, Joe had started the match excellently and set a great tone as well as the other defenders.
Senior panelist Jamie Moylan has a better chance of featuring from the off. The Cratloe clubman was ruled out for the semi-final win and is nearing a return to the first fifteen.
“Jamie went off in the match the week before with an injury, we thought he was right and we really felt he would be right in the week but he wasn’t right in the week, we’d be hoping that the extra bit of time will be able to make himself fit for the final,” Fahy stated.
