THOUSANDS of homes in Co Clare were left without power this Tuesday night.
Co Clare is one of five counties under a Status Yellow wind weather warning until midnight with a power outage reported for thousands of homes across the county shortly after 22:30 on Tuesday night.
Over 4,702 households were affected by an outage in Ennis, the ESB confirmed.
There were reports that homes from Clarecastle all the way to West Clare are also without power including Ballyea, Drumquin, Kildysart, Ballynacally, Lissycasey, Kilmaley, Inch, Connolly and Kilmaley.
Power was restored with the fault repaired shortly before midnight.
Faults were restored by ESB crews in Cranny, Kilmurry McMahon and Kilmihil earlier on Tuesday evening before wind gusts picked up.
Gusts of more than 100km/h have been recorded along the west coast of Clare this Tuesday night.
Met Éireann’s weather warning is also in place for Limerick, Galway, Kerry and Mayo. Met Éireann said it will become increasingly windy with very strong and very gusty westerly winds. The forecaster said this may result in some fallen trees and branches, difficult travelling conditions, large coastal waves and potentially damaging gusts of wind.
