COLIN MARTIN had the distinction of serving as Grand Marshal for the St Patrick’s Day parade in Newmarket-on-Fergus.
After a year where he bravely battled illness, Colin one of the village’s favourite sons took centre stage as the Grand Marshal for the St Patrick’s Day parade in Newmarket-on-Fergus.
One of the most loyal supporters of Newmarket-on-Fergus’ hurling teams, Colin was decked in green to get in the spirit of the day.
O’Neill’s Bar once again turned heads with their float as some of their regulars attempted an hanging tough challenge, urged on by Gerard Devanney. The Sports Bar entered a float this year where DJ Carey provided some inspiration for long-serving Newmarket Celtic kitman Owen McCarthy.
Groups from Obair, Newmarket Celtic, Newmarket-on-Fergus GAA, Newmarket-on-Fergus Agricultural Show, Newmarket-on-Fergus Brass Band, Newmarket-on-Fergus handball club, Newmarket-on-Fergus tidy towns, the local scouts, The Rós Café, The Rhine and Dromoland Castle also added to the entertainment in the village.
