Leah Minogue of Tuamgraney was awarded Handballer of the year 2025 in Killarney at the Munster GAA Awards night.

Munster counties gather to recognise achievements across all the Gaelic Games codes while also marking GAA referees of Munster Finals.

Minogue was recognised for her achievements in 2025 which included Singles All-Ireland titles in two codes. Winning 40×20 and 60×30 Munster and All-Ireland titles and also a 40×20 All-Ireland doubles title with clubmate Amber Nolan. Leah also won many Irish Collegiate single and doubles titles during the year and reaching the final of the USHA Ladies singles in Missouri last February, bringing home a silver medal.

Club Singles Championships Adult and Juvenile:

Finals in Clare Club singles championships began over the weekend.

Silver Masters: Mike Baker (Kilkishen) dft Alan Cummins(Toonagh)
Junior: Seanie Doyle(Tuamgraney) dft Paddy Fitzgerald(Tuamgraney)

Gael Linn:

County finals took place in Clarecastle with 6 clubs taking part on the night the winners and Clare Champions are Jack McMahon and Sarah McGrath of Clooney Quin and runners up were Connall Early and Sophia Moroney. Both doubles pairs will now go to represent Clare in Munster Gael Linn in January.

Tournaments:

There are a number of tournaments being run over the Christmas and early new year period to keep all levels of handballers busy. Mick Kerr is hosted in Tyrone and has U11 boys and girls and Open Men’s sections. The U11 groups will be run of the coming weekend and Ava Considine of Clarecastle is representing Clare. There is Killshot Shootout in Kingscourt, Cavan in the early new year and a number of Clare players usually make the trip for these events. There are still some places on the Saturday event for that.

Liscarroll, Cork will host their annual U13 & U15 boys and girls tournaments from Dec 27th -31st. Clare usually have good involvement in this and have had great success over the years.

Clare players will also be getting ready for the Clare Challenge in early February for 13,15&17 and under age grades in boys and girls in the National tournament which will be hosted throughout the county.
