TULLA’s Junior B team of Oisin Donnellan, Evan Corbett, Tony Leyden, Aaron Shanahan and Alan Leamy were crowned All-Ireland Junior B champions in Croke Park last Saturday.

In the semi-final on Saturday morning it came down to the last singles game with Tulla defeating Templeudigan of Wexford by 6 points, 76-70.

They then faced Saval of Down in the final later in the evening. Behind in the first singles by 9 points the doubles pair came roaring back into the contest and the game was all but over going into the last hand of singles game. Tulla overcame the Down club by 76 to 57 over the six games.

Club Singles Championships:

The club singles championships from minor to masters levels are all at concluding stages and most finals will take place the weekend.

In the minor final Cathal Noonan (Toonagh) and Sean Considine (Clooney/Quin) will be in opposition.

In the junior B final Tuamgraney’s Fionn Slattery will face Tony Leydon, Oisin Donnellan or Aaron Slattery.

The junior final will see Paddy Fitzgerald (Tuamgraney) against Seanie Doyle (Tuamgraney) while the O-35 final sees Darren O’Neill (Clooney/Quin) and Darren Cullinan (Newmarket-on-Fergus) in action.

Stephen Malone will play Shane Walsh (Tuamgraney) in the masters final.

The golden masters competition has Tulla’s Sean McConnologue up against Greg Shanahan of Kilkishen for a place in final against Jim Cleary while in the silver masters Mike Baker (Kilkishen) will play Alan Cummins (Toonagh).

Cumman na mBunscoil:

Clare handball had 4 teams take part in the Cumann na mBunscoil competition over the weekend.

The girls U11/13 A team were crowned Munster winners with wins over Tipperary and Cork while the Girls U11/13 B team were also winners beating Cork in the final. The boys U11/13 B team also claimed Munster honours with wins over Tipperary in semi-final and Cork in final. Clare Boys A U11/13 were silver winners just behind Tipperary.

Gael Linn:

County finals in the Gael Linn tournament take place this weekend. The semi-finals and finals will be held in Clarecastle with Kilkishen with Clarecastle, Clooney/Quin and Toonagh represented. This format is a team event for a mixed pair of boy and girl U13. They will play two singles games and a doubles game with combined score at the end of the three timed games deciding the winners.

Clare have been very successful in this style of competition over the last two years with Tuamgraney having 2 Gael Linn (A) and Kilkishen 1 Comortas (B) All-Ireland titles to their credit. The Clare champions will go on to Munster competition in the new year.

Doubles Championships:

Entries are now been taken for doubles championships and this Friday, December 12 is the deadline for entries. These competitions are from Minor to Masters grades and county winners and runners up will go on to compete at Provincial level in the new year.
