BOGUS TRADESMEN were caught by Gardaรญ in Tulla last week.

Described as โ€œvery professionalโ€ looking, the bogus tradesmen were advertising for work in Tulla and East Clare when An Garda Sรญochรกna came across them on Friday last (August 29th).

Sergeant Edel Burke explained, โ€œThese bogus tradesmen were advertising for work in the area through handing out leaflets that looked very professional and had a lot of high quality products named on themโ€.

She appealed to Clare residents not to use cold callers for work in their homes and for neighbours to look out for each other in that regard.

โ€œAcross County Clare there are numerous local tradesmen that you can contact to do repairs to your house. If you see your neighbours especially elderly neighbours using cold callers, please remind them that the work might not be to a high standard and usually the price increases when the job is nearly finished or else they find a bigger problem and the price goes up, when in fact there is no problem and it is all a scam to take money from you,โ€ Sergeant Burke stated.

She continued, โ€œIf you are in doubt please ring your local garda station and they will send out a garda to assess who the tradesman is and there credentialsโ€.

It is believed that no arrests were made in relation to this incident.
