LISCANNOR have retained their intermediate status for 2026 thanks to a one point win over North Clare neighbours Ennistymon.

Liscannor 0-11
Ennistymon 1-7
Venue: Páirc Naomh Mhuire, Quilty

In a game in which the teams had to cope with difficult wind conditions, the winners landed three two pointers which proved key to the victory.

Ennistymon still have a chance to retain their status and they will play O’Currys in two weeks time with the losers dropping down to Junior A.

Ennistymon played with the aid of the wind in the opening half and they took the lead after seven minutes when Joe Dowling fisted the opening point.

They struck for what was the game’s only goal in the tenth minute, Daniel Brody finding the net. The game had reached the midpoint of the half before Liscannor opened their account, Alan Clohessy converting a great two pointer into the strong wind and Can Guerin quickly followed with their opening score from play.

Ennistymon responded with points from Ryan Barry and Paudie Consisdine but Michael Foley had the last score of the half when he pointed for the winners to leave the score at 1-3 to 0-4 for Ennisymon at the break.

Ennistymon had the majority of possession in the opening minutes of the new half but Brian Considine struck for a two pointer eight minutes in to level the tie.

Liscannor took the lead for the first time when Clohessy converted a 30m free but within a minute the sides were level again.

Another two pointer from Considine gave the winners a lead they would hold to the finish and he same player pushed his side three clear with ten minutes to play when he converted a 20m free from out on the wing.

Ennistymon had the majority of possession from here to the finish and points from Niall Canavan and Danny Rouine had the margin down to the minimum with five minutes to play.

While the Liscannor defence had a few anxious moments in the remaining time, they held firm to come away with a victory they just about deserved on the day.

In what was a strong team effort, Podge Haugh, Robert Lucas, Dara Blake, Darren Nagle, Alan Clohessy and Brian Considine were to the fore for the winners.

John Murphy, Mattie Kinch until injured, Joe Dowling, Ryan Barry and Joe Casey worked hard for Ennistymon
