A STRONG second half from Kildysart earned them a share of the spoils with St Joseph’s Doora/Barefield in Group 2 of the TUS Clare SFC on Friday evening.

This is a result that didn’t look likely at half time when the Doora/Barefield men held a seven point advantage which, if their finishing had been better, could have been four or five points greater.
When news emerged this week that Kildysart would go into this game without inter-county man Emmett McMahon hopes of them having a good campaign took a dip.
Then it emerged that Seamus Casey was also ruled out through injury and their hopes of progress took a further dent when it emerged that injury had also ruled Oisin Coyle out of this game.
The manner in which they fought their way back into this contest in the second half has certainly given a huge lift to the club.
They started well and struck for the opening score, a point from Rory McMahon in the opening minute.
For the next twenty minutes Doora/Barefield dominated proceedings shooting nine unanswered points, including two 2 pointers from Paddy Bugler.
After Kildysart ended twenty minutes without a score with a Luke McGrath pointed free, St Joseph’s struck for a goal from Eoghan Thynne but Kildysart finished the half strongly shooting a two pointer from Jamie Evans and a point from play from Ryan Casey to leave the half time score at 1-9 to 0-5.
Doora/Barefield had the opening score of the new half, a point from Michael Nash but following pointed frees from Luke McGrath and Diarmuid O’Donnell, Kildysart were given a huge boost when great work by Jamie Evans ended with Michael Donnellan providing the finish for their goal.
The margin between the teams was now down to three points and this was still the position inside the final quarter after each side had added a point.
Full back Fergal Guinnane came up field to close the gap to two before Evans and Diarmuid O’Donnell added points in the space of a minute to level the tie with three minutes go to.
The game was in the final minute of normal time when Diarmuid O’Donnell converted a free to put Kildysart ahead to the delight of their supporters.
Three additional minutes were signalled and two of these had been played when Eoghan Thynne levelled the tie.
Conor Moloney, Rory McMahon, Fergal Guinnane, Cillian Kelly and Jamie Evans stood out for Kildysart.
Conal Dorgan, James Curran, Fionn Kelleher and Eoghan Thynne had their moments for St Josephs.
