CRATLOEโ€™s Joe Oโ€™Donnell is continuing as chairman of Clare camogie in a caretaker capacity until a replacement is found.

When it came to the election of officers at this weekโ€™s convention at Hotel Woodstock, he was the only nominee for the position. Informing the delegates that he had completed his five-year term he agreed to continue in the role in a caretaker capacity.

The boardโ€™s registrar Kevin Walsh explained that he wasnโ€™t a candidate as he had only come on the executive last year and was โ€œlearning the ropesโ€.

He proposed that the chairmanโ€™s term had included โ€œtwo years of non-activity due to Covid and it would not be breaking the rules for him to continue in the positionโ€.

Stating that โ€œpeople staying in a position for too long is bad newsโ€, the chairman agreed to continue in the position in a caretaker capacity until someone is found.

The board is also looking for a vice chairman as there were no nominees for the position at this weekโ€™s meeting.
