IMPROVEMENTS are to be made to road layouts in Shannon Banks.

A successful request for houses number 45 to 54 in the Shannon Grove estate in Shannon Banks to be included in the overlay programme of Clare County Council was made by Cllr Pat O’Gorman (FF).

Executive engineer in the Shannon Municipal District, John Strand confirmed that the road fronting the houses will be included in the roadworks programme for 2023.

Residents had felt that the road at the back of Shannon Banks “was forgotten about,” Cllr O’Gorman stated when flagging the matter. Support for the request was also voiced by Cllr Michael Begley (IND) and Cllr Donna McGettigan (SF) who relayed that locals had raised the matter with her during a recent canvass.

Staff from the Shannon MD will also install a new yellow box at the first entrance into Shannon Banks, Strand confirmed.

This was in response to a motion from Cllr O’Gorman seeking a yellow box at the entrance to the Token housing estate in the area. “I’m delighted it will be done,” he admitted, again this request was seconded by Cllr Begley.
