Clooney/Quin and Smith O’Briens fielded relatively young teams when they met in the opening round of Division 1B in the Clare Cup on St. Patrick’s Day.

The early exchanges were relatively even but Clooney/Quin got a grip on proceedings in the second quarter and when the half time whistle sounded they were 1-8 to 0-3 in front, the goal coming from corner forward Shane Harrisson.

They continued to hold the upperhand in the second half on their way to a merited win with Dannan Fox emerging as their top scorer with 0-7 to his credit.

Eoghan O’Brien and Dylan Cunningham each landed four points while Harrisson finished with 1-3 to his name.

John Cusack and Jason Monahan scored 0-3 each for a Killaloe side that had eight under 20’s in their line up. Evan Connolly and Shane Geraghty each scored two points
