SEMI-FINAL PAIRINGS have been made for the penultimate stages of the U21 football championships.

With the race for honours down to the final four in both the A and B championships, there will be plenty of interest in the semi-final ties which are to take place on Tuesday evening under lights.

Corofin’s bid to win a historic U21A double in football and hurling remains on track but they face an almighty difficult task when they travel to Gurteen to face reigning football champions Cill Cúil Gaels, an amalgamation of Kildysart, Shannon Gaels, Kilmihil and Coolmeen.

A powerful quarter-final saw Corofin defeat Wolfe Tones by 26 points. The champions advanced when overcoming Kilrush/Killimer 5-11 1-07 in an outing where they were comfortable winners.

Ennnistymon who have a strong representation from their senior squad will meet St Joseph’s Doora/Barefield at the other side of the draw. The Parish likewise have plenty of players with senior club experience who are setting the way for their side as evident with their eighteen point quarter-final win over St Joseph’s Miltown.

Thanks to a strong second half showing, Ennistymon managed to hold off a stubborn Western Gaels outfit, a goal from Diarmuid Fahy was crucial in their 1-11 2-04 victory against the amalgamation of Doonbeg, O’Currys, Naomh Eoin and St Senan’s Kilkee.
