ONE OF Clare’s top two adult soccer sides will not progress into the last 32 of the Munster Junior Cup.

Current League and Cup champions, Avenue Utd and their predecessors Newmarket Celtic are on course for a third round meeting in the Munster Junior Cup unless either side faces a shock elimination before then.

Draws took place for the provincial tournament this week. Premier Division sides Tulla Utd and Lifford FC will face off in the first round with the newly established Fair Green Celtic FC getting their first crack at Avenue Utd B. A close encounter is forecast with the clash of Shannon Olympic AFC v Fern Celtic while Kilrush Rangers and Coole FC will be vying not to be eliminated by a club in a lower division to them.
