SHANNONโs Jack Lynch channelled his inner David Beckham earlier this month with what he described as โthe best goal I have ever scoredโ while another Clare footballer has made his debut for Treaty Utd.
Captain of Treaty Utd, Jack scored a sublime free kick from just inside the Athlone half of the field in their 2-1 win over Athlone Town. It served as the highlight in what has been a frustrating season for the Limerick club who have dealt with a high amount of injuries.

On Monday evening, Sixmilebridgeโs Scott Kirkland made his League of Ireland debut for the First Division side as they suffered a 5-0 home defeat to Cork City, introduced as a substitute on seventy six minutes. Lynch lined out at right back with Ennisโ Joe Collins and Newmarket-on-Fergus duo Callum McNamara and Lee Devitt all getting starting jerseys.
In between the Athlone and Cork clashes, Treaty recorded a 0-0 draw with Galway Utd. The Cork City defeat moves the side managed by Tommy Barrett who himself resides in Sixmilebridge to sixth spot in the table.
Reflecting on his memorable goal versus Athlone which is already a leading contender for goal of the season, Jack remarked, โI meant it and I just want to get that out there straight away. I must give Tommy a bit of credit as I put the ball down, I was asking the bench was Steven Christopher on and I hadnโt even looked up. Tommy said the keeper was off his line and as you can see on the video footage, I had a couple of goes at it and then felt I should give it a go. Itโs probably the best goal I have ever scoredโ.
