Kilrush Town

ONE MAN IS RECEVING treatment following a stabbing in Kilrush on Saturday.

A male in his thirties was taken to hospital following an incident on Crawford Street in Kilrush Town on Saturday evening where he was the victim of a stab attack.

Following the incident, Gardaí moved swiftly to cordon off Crawford St as their investigation commenced.

Gardaí are trying to ascertain the reasons into the attack to determine whether it was planned retribution and the possible background into this.

Medics are confident the victim will make a full recovery with the injuries of the stab wound described as not life threatening.

Speaking to The Clare Echo, Superintendent John Ryan issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward to assist with their investigation. “At the moment it is under investigation and we are seeking the public’s assistance if there are any witnesses or anyone that was in the area that saw something on Saturday night to give us a call and let us know what happened”.

Gardaí particularly are keen to talk to individuals who may have been in the vicinity of Crawford Street, at the time of the attack.

According to Supt Ryan, officers in charge of the case as of yet have not discovered the motivation behind the attack. “At present we’ve no indication to identify the reason behind it but all that will be investigated and we will try identify the cause of it”.
