Kilmaley maintained their unbeaten run in Division 1A of the Clare Cup while O’Callaghans Mills proved much too strong for an under-strength Scariff in Division 1B.

Another win for Kilmaley after dominant final quarter

A dominant final quarter saw Kilmaley make it three wins from three in Division 1A of the Clare Cup when they accounted for Broadford in this deferred round 2 tie played at Kilmaley on Good Friday evening.

A goal just before the short whistle, from teenager Niall O’Farrell left the minimum between the teams at half time when the score was 0-9 to 1-5 in favour of the home team.

Padraig Hickey struck for the visitors second goal shortly after the resumption of play and this pushed the East Clare side into the lead.

From here on however, the home side dominated and helped by a goal from Daire Keane and points from Keane and his fellow full forward line team mates, Joe Carmody and Cian Moloney amongst others they emerged with this merited victory to maintain their place at the top of the Division 1A table.

Mills return to winning ways

O’Callaghans Mills bounced back to winning ways when they accounted for a very under-strength Scariff side in the third round of Division 1B of the Clare Cup at on Tuesday evening.

The home side led from the outset and were 3-8 to 1-6 in front when the half time whistle sounded.

The result gives them their second win from three outings in this campaign while Scariff remain pointless.

Sean Cotter, Conor Henry, Colm Cleary and Michael Cotter were the goalscorers for the winners while Michael Barrett struck for the Scariff goal on an evening when All-Ireland senior handball champion Diarmuid Nash played his first game on this year’s campaign for the Scariff men.
