ONE MAN has been arrested following the seizure of €700,000 worth of heroin in Ardnacrusha.

ON Friday, Gardaí conducted a search operation which resulted in the discovery of €700,000 worth of suspected heroin and the arrest of one man aged in his sixties. Gardaí have confirmed that the search took place on lands in the Ardnacrusha area.

Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit led the planned searches as part of Operation Tara, assistance was provided by the local Garda units, the Regional Dog Unit and members of the Defence Forces.

In the course of the searches suspected heroin with an estimated value of €700k (analysis pending) was recovered. The drugs will be forwarded to FSI for analysis.

A man in his 60s was arrested as part of the investigation and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act, 1996, at Henry Street Garda station. He can be held for up to seven days. The investigations are ongoing.
