Laois side Heywood CS sealed their victory with a quick double goal blitz ending Ennistymon’s aspiration for an All-Ireland double.

It was a tight game in the first half with Heywood only leading by two points at the end of the half. John Nea made two outstanding saves in the late stages of the first half to save the North Clare school. Sean Rynne was the only CBS player to make the scoresheet in the first half.

Matters were close until the third quarter when Heywood scored two quick goals, the first from former Laois minor Shaun Fitzpatrick.

Shortly after the concession of the double goal blitz, CBS called on Brendy Rouine, the Ennistymon footballer has been out of action due to injury but made his presence soon after his introduction with a near goal chance after his free dropped short inside the box but was blocked by Heywood defender.

With Brendy and Sean putting over three scores, it was not enough to stop the Heywood Side with them keeping a gap between the sides.

The CBS must forget about Saturday’s but move on and start thinking about their All-Ireland Hurling Final which takes place this Saturday in Toomevara at 3:30pm where they face Coláiste Naomh Cormac of Offaly.
