SHANNON native, Ryan Nolan has signed a deal with Northamptown Town that will keep him with the English club until the end of the 2022/23 season.

Twenty three year old, Ryan formerly captained the Irish U19 team. His name is known in soccer circles across the country due to spending three years as part of the Inter Milan academy.

He moved from Inter Milan to Arezzo in the fourth tier of the Italian league for a brief spell before joining Getafe of Spain in 2020, while there he tore his cruciate ligament on the eve of his debut for the La Liga club, he did not line out for their first team subsequent to this.

A loan move is likely for Ryan with Northampton keen for him to boost his match fitness before settling into the club.

Ryan expressed his delight at joining the club and said he was “grateful to the club for this opportunity and can’t wait to get started”.

Cobblers boss, Jon Brady said Ryan had been training well over the past few weeks. “He is a talented young player who was on a great career path before his injury”. He added, “As his background shows, he is a player with an excellent pedigree and a good upbringing. Ryan was in line to make his first team debut for Getafe before he was injured and you can see the potential he has. He has really impressed us so we wanted to tie him down ahead of securing him a potential loan move, which might be ideal for him at this stage”.
