A man aged in his thirties has died following a workplace accident in West Clare on Friday afternoon.

Members of the Irish Coast Guard stationed at Kilkee had been requested to secure a safe landing site for the Athlone-basedEmergency Aeromedical Service air ambulance to attend but the helicopter was stood down when the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí confirmed that the body was removed to University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem examination.
