LADIES FOOTBALL in Clare โis in a better place,โ the countyโs Annual General Meeting heard with Seรกn Lenihan remaining on as Chairman.
Lenihan hit the ground running after his election last year, the Miltown Malbay native succeeded Cooraclareโs David OโBrien who issued a sudden resignation to the surprise of fellow officers at the 2020 AGM, a resulting Emergency General Meeting saw Seรกn step up to the hotseat.
Speaking at the Clare LGFA AGM, Seรกn reflected, โIt has been a good year, it has been a positive year and a successful year, weโre in a better place now than when we started. We look forward to further advancing in the coming yearโ.
He referenced securing the sponsorship of Rengen Power as a major step in the right direction for the county, โthey are a great fit for Clare Ladies, some of the things they hold dear, our values align with their values, weโre about being progressive and the best we can beโ.
Continued support of Cooraclare native Martin Donnelly was also lauded by Lenihan, โMartin Donnelly is a brilliant Clare man, he doesnโt need to keep doing what he does but he does.
More games involving the county side need to be held at Cusack Park, the St Josephs Doora/Barefield clubman maintained. โIt shouldnโt be a novely to play in Cusack Park, should be a given, when we did go looking they did give it to us,โ he acknowledged of the assistance of Clare GAA.
A regular slot for ladies football has been sought at Caherlohan, he confirmed. โI have floated the kite about Ballyline if it becomes redundant to the Co Board but it comes with a huge challenge of maintaining and having money but we need to be ambitiousโ.
