CLARE Echo columnist Martin Daly is a known businessman, football coach and analyst these days but not that long ago he was one of the best footballers in the country.

The Lisseycasey man often converted the spectacular and is best remembered for his heroics in the 1992 Munster final against Kerry and against Cork in ’97 when he scored a dramatic match-winning goal in injury time to set up a Munster final date with Kerry.

Clare’s footballers had some golden moments throughout the ’90s however Daly is often remembered for this flash of brilliance.

Martin scored this cheeky back-heel point against Tipperary in the Munster Football semi-final in February, 2000. The score helped Clare on their way to defeating the Premier County 0-15 to 0-10, however the Kingdom had too much for the Banner men in the Munster final.
