BOTH SEMI-FINALS in the U21A and C hurling championship have been postponed.

Clare GAA officials made the decision shortly after 11:30 on Sunday morning that the last four clashes would not proceed “due to weather conditions”.

Clonlara was originally fixed to host the meeting of Scariff/Ogonnelloe and Clarecastle but was deemed not playable, successful attempts were made to secure the University of Limerick as a venue but safety concerns had been flagged by respective parties regarding road safety and footwear required for Astro turf pitches.

Corofin/Ruan’s meeting with Inagh/Kilnamona was pencilled in for Dr Daly Park in Tulla but was earlier on Sunday morning moved to Clareabbey. Initially just the other semi-final was called off before Clare GAA officials decided this game would also not proceed.

Re-fixture details are expected to be ironed out at a meeting of the CCCC on Monday evening.

Prior to the decision to adapt the format of the U21 championship to allow clubs a ‘second chance’, the County Board were advised by clubs that difficulties would arise with pitch availability, weather conditions and player welfare if they were to move away from the knockout format.

C semi-finals have also been pulled along with the U21B football semi-final between Clondegad and Lissycasey.
