Kilrush Rangers and Turnpike Rovers have been relegated from the Premier Division of the Clare District Soccer League.

Games in all Divisions of the CDSL resume this weekend. Fixtures were released on Sunday with Turnpike due to travel to Lynch Park to face Shannon Town on Saturday evening with Kilrush Rangers taking on Sporting Ennistymon in Lahinch in the Maloney Garden Machinery Premier Division.

Neither of these fixtures will take place with The Clare Echo informed on Thursday night that both clubs had pulled out of their weekend ties.

A spokesperson for the CDSL confirmed to The Clare Echo that both Turnpike and Kilrush will now be relegated from the Premier Division.

Concern had been voiced by members of Kilrush Rangers prior to the resumption of games with the risks associated with COVID-19 of competitive action commencing.

No collective meeting between clubs and CDSL officers has taken place prior to the commencement of games this weekend. There has been communication individually between clubs and officers.

Two teams have also pulled out of the T Sheils & Company First Division League. Corofin Harps and Kildysart Celtic will now be relegated, they withdrew from their respective outings against Tulla Utd and Mountshannon Celtic in recent days. Lifford B had previously informed CDSL officers they were unable to field a team in February. All three sides will be relegated to the Second Division.
