TRAFFIC is at a standstill along the M18 from Shannon to Ennis with the fuel crisis protest taking over the roads of Clare.
Commuters heading home from work on Tuesday evening have been met with traffic gridlock in Co Clare with hundreds of protestors causing traffic chaos.
At the time of writing (17:40), along the M18, traffic is barely moving from Shannon (junction 9) as far as Ennis and Doora (junction 12). On the Lahinch Rd in Ennis, traffic is also at a standstill.
Protestors have been reminded to keep the hard shoulder of the M18 free to allow access for emergency services.
Organisers of Tuesday’s protest have yet to decide if they will be back on the roads tomorrow (Wednesday).
